Grading

*For post-summer session, one absence will reduce the participation grade to 80%, a second absence will reduce it to 50%, and a third absence to 0%.

Attendance means more than mere physical presence.  It means listening and participating as well.  It also means not surfing the web or texting during class.

Grade Appeals

If you disagree with a grade on an assignment, here's what to do:

• If you think it is a simple mistake on my part (calculating scores or misreading an answer that was obviously correct), just see me right after class and we can usually take care of it on the spot.
• If you disagree with me about the correct answer or about hwo much credit you deserve for your answer, please:
  • write up your argument in favor of your position, and
  • submit it to me within two class meetings of the class during which the exams or papers are first turned back.
• If you still are not satisfied, come and see me during office hours so that we can discuss hwo to proceed.
