  • Nancy Sherman (Georgetown and Woodrow Wilson) will be giving a talk at IPJ on Tuesday, October 10th, at 4 PM on stoicism. Her latest book, An Ethic for Warriors, is on this topic.

  • At 6 PM in Shiley Theater on the same day, Richard Armitage will deliver the Stockdale Lecture on Ethics and Leadership.

  • On Wednesday, Nancy Sherman will be giving a paper at 4 PM (again, in IPJ) on physician responsibility at Guantanamo Bay.

Possible long essay final exam questions:

  1. Kant and Aristotle present very different ideals about excellence in the moral life. Explain, compare, and contrast their differing views of moral excellence in the moral life. Critically evaluate their positions from your own standpoint.
  2. Write an essay about the movie Glory, showing ways in which it illustrates Aristotles theory of the virtues.  (A list of characters will be provided.)

Final Exam:
